In an Australian first, seven of NSW’s leading regional cities have united to form the Evocities campaign and encourage people to live, work and invest in an Evocity.

The seven Evocities are Albury, Armidale, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.

Each of the seven cities has dedicated resources and funding to the campaign, and has in turn secured Australian Government funding, as well as support from the NSW State Government and corporate sponsors.

The Evocity name was coined because the cities are centres of Energy, Vision and Opportunity.

The main objective of the campaign is to encourage capital city residents to make the move to an Evocity and invest in the opportunities the cities have to offer.

Moving to an Evocity is not a sea change, not a tree change but a CITY CHANGE.

The campaign will showcase the abundance of opportunities in these regional cities due to their lower cost of living, strong career and business opportunities and enhanced lifestyle. Living in an Evocity means less time commuting, working and stressing, and more time for you and your family to enjoy NSW’s beautiful natural surrounds.

Evocity Armidale – the “capital” of the New England region of northern New South Wales – is located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway. Armidale is a cosmopolitan city that is home to the University of New England and many other fine educational institutions. Armidale has been acknowledged as one of only 20 cities in Australia with an abundant, long-term water supply, and its cool mountain climate is regarded as a major environmental asset against a backdrop of climate-change issues.

Armidale differs from most regional centres because it has a long established university, transforming it from a rural town to a sophisticated and cosmopolitan city.

Through the University, TAFE, independent and public schools the city has become a significant centre of education, creating a wider range of jobs and business opportunities than usually found in the regions.

Armidale has a well educated and diverse population who stimulate change and demand a high standard of living.
Armidale’s strengths lie in its educational, agricultural, retail, government and professional services, and it is these industry sectors that provide vital employment for a significant portion of the local labour force
